The Arsenal legend pointed to the Pittodrie club's success in the 1980s to support his argument in a discussion with punditry colleague and Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher.

Henry and Carragher were taking part in a segment for Sky Sports' social media channels called Winner Stays On.

In the piece, they battled a series of football's most successful and influential managers against one another, weighing up their achievements and pros and cons before deciding who should 'stay on'.

After cycling through names such as Johan Cruyff, Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp, it came down to Pep Guardiola and Sir Alex Ferguson.

The former has won league titles in Spain, Germany and England with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

Sir Alex started his managerial career with St Mirren, leading them to promotion before moving to Aberdeen.

It was in the North East that he truly started to forge his managerial legacy, turning the Dons into the premier force in Scottish football's of the early to mid-eighties.

Aberdeen won three league titles, four Scottish Cups and a League Cup under Ferguson but there most impressive triumph was lifting the 1983 European Cup Winners' Cup, beating Real Madrid in the final.

Sir Alex would of course go on to manage Manchester United, winning 28 major trophies - including two Champions League titles.

As they poured over the two candidates, Carragher began: "I'm going to with Sir Alex Ferguson over Pep, because..."

Before Henry interjected: "...he did it with Aberdeen."

The Anfield hero agreed, and went on to say that he doubts Guardiola will ever do what Sir Alex did with the Dons.

"Yeah. Pep is probably never going to do that or take a team like that," he said.

"So I'm going to go with Sir Alex Ferguson."

Henry concluded: "So, Sir Alex is the winner."
