The Argentine media has given its verdict on Alejandro Ganacho’s display for Argentina against Costa Rica, complete with ratings.

The international break livened up for Manchester United fans on Tuesday as two of the club’s most excited players made their full debuts for their countries.

Kobbie Mainoo earned his first start for England at just 18 and put in a Player of the Match performance in the 2-2 draw with Belgium.

It’s yet another height in the meteoric rise of Mainoo’s career and the midfielder might have just earned his spot in the squad for Euro 2024.

A few hours later, Alejandro Garnacho also made his full debut for his country as Argentina defeated Costa Rica 3-1.

The 19-year-old played on the left and lasted 70 minutes as the world champions came from a goal behind to win.

Former United man Angel Di Maria equalised with Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister and Lautauro Martinez of Inter securing the win.

Manager Lionel Scaloni was pleased with Garnacho’s display against tough opposition and now the press have had their say as well.

Argentine media’s rating for Alejandro Garnacho vs Costa Rica

Clarin gave Garnacho a 6/10 rating and wrote: “He was mobile on the left and showed a lot of desire.

“Diving towards the middle to receive when the ball did not reach him, but he did not manage to gravitate like in his last games at Manchester United.

“He showed glimpses of his talent, but he lacked continuity in the game.”

TYC Sports also gave a 6/10 and wrote: “Expeditious every time the ball came to him.

“He received and faced, although without making appropriate decisions.

“He is worth the conviction in the first ownership of him.”

Finally, Ole also gave Garnacho a 6/10: “First time as a starter and left winger.

“He had a clear chance with a left foot that was blocked by Keylor. He lacked the finesse to give the center or the last pass.”

A solid first display for Garnacho

It sounds like Garnacho enjoyed a solid full debut for Argentina despite coming up against robust opponents who marked him tightly.

It’s easy to forget the winger is just 19 and expectations of his performances have already risen massively due to his excellent recent form.

Besides, Garnacho’s stats from the game make for even prettier reading.

According to FotMob, he had 100% shot accuracy, completed two dribbles, created two chances, had 87% pass accuracy, won six duels, was fouled four times and made three recoveries.

Not bad at all and United will be hoping he keeps it up against Brentford on Saturday.
