Ryan Giggs has revealed that one fellow club legend “loves” watching Salford City home matches after claiming there is a “real United connection” at the club.

The Manchester United legend is a co-owner of Salford City alongside former teammates Nicky Butt, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, David Beckham and Paul Scholes.

Five of the famed Class of ’92 members took control of the club in 2014, with billionaire Singaporean Peter Lim purchasing a 50 per cent stake at the time.

David Beckham, who is also part of the Class of ’92, secured his 10 per cent stake in Salford City in 2019 after he completed a fractional purchase from Peter Lim.

Salford City were initially in Division One North in the Northern Premier League during the time that Ryan Giggs and Co completed their takeover of the club.

The club, who are managed by Karl Robinson, are now in League Two and have lifted the EFL Trophy under the ownership of the Class of ’92 and Lim.

Giggs refused the idea of taking up a managerial post at Salford City in the past, having been out of management since he stepped down as Wales boss in 2022.

However, the 50-year-old ex-United star has taken up a role at the League Two side, which is his first position since he was cleared of the allegations against him in 2023.

Giggs on two Man Utd legends coming to Salford City

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has opened up about his future in football and refused to rule out a return to management if the right opportunity presented itself.

The former Wales manager recently made an appearance at the Radlett Centre and opened up about the success of Salford City under the Class of ’92.

Giggs revealed that former Manchester United teammates Roy Keane and Steve Bruce both attend Salford City matches at Moor Lane.

Alex Bruce, who is the son of United legend Steve Bruce, became part of Karl Robinson’s coaching staff at Salford City back in February.

Giggs insisted that Roy Keane has ‘loved’ coming to Salford City matches, with the former Wales international saying there is a “real” connection to United.

Speaking to the audience at Radlett (via The Athletic), he said: “We love it.

“Myself, Gary, Nicky, Scholesy. Phil and Becks are in America so don’t get to a lot of games. But the rest of the lads do.

“Roy Keane loves coming to home games. Steve Bruce comes because his son, Alex, is now assistant manager. So, there’s a real United connection.”

Man Utd legend Giggs on his future

Giggs resigned from his managerial post at Wales ahead of his trial over assault allegations, which the United legend staunchly denied.

The former Wales and United winger initially took a step back from his managerial duties in 2020 after he was arrested amid the allegations levelled against him.

Giggs was later cleared of the allegations against him in his trial in 2023, but the United legend has not returned to management since his work at Wales.

However, the ex-United star admitted that he has “unfinished business” and a return to management could happen after enjoying his spell with the Wales national team.

“There’s a bit of unfinished business,” he said at the event at the Radlett Centre.

“I was obviously enjoying coaching Wales. We had a pretty successful time. And yeah, I loved it. So, I don’t see why not.”
