Ben Foster has admitted that he would have subbed off one Manchester United star immediately if he were in Erik ten Hag’s shoes during the Bournemouth match.

Manchester United snatched a Premier League point from their trip to the Vitality Stadium last Saturday after Bournemouth were held to a 2-2 draw.

The Red Devils suffered an early setback in the encounter after United teenager Willy Kambwala slipped up and Dominic Solanke scored for Bournemouth.

Bruno Fernandes cancelled out Dominic Solanke’s opener in the first half before Bournemouth restored their advantage going into half-time.

Justin Kluivert was left in a one-on-one situation with Red Devils defender Willy Kambwala, who endured a tough first-half performance at the Vitality Stadium.

The 24-year-old Dutch winger was not picked up by Diogo Dalot and Justin Kluivert put the ball on his right before he slammed a low strike into the back of the United net.

Bruno Fernandes came to United’s rescue for the second time and the club captain pulled the Red Devils level from the spot-kick in the second half.

United languish in seventh place in the Premier League table after winning once in their last five league matches, with the Red Devils 13 points off from the top four.

Foster calls out Man Utd star’s performance

Manchester United are all but likely to finish outside of the Premier League top four after their underwhelming results in recent weeks.

United manager Erik ten Hag will turn his attention away from the league this week in preparation for his side’s crucial FA Cup semi-final clash against Coventry City.

Ben Foster has now pulled no punches towards Casemiro and called out the United midfielder for not supporting Willy Kambwala against Justin Kluivert.

The former United shot-stopper said that Casemiro should be the “engine” and the “disruptor” in his role as a holding midfielder for the Bournemouth clash.

However, Foster has insisted that he would have pulled off the 32-year-old former Real Madrid star if he had been in Ten Hag’s shoes.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: “The second goal, Casemiro, he’s a holding midfielder.

“He should be that engine, that rat in the midfield, the disruptor – somebody that breaks up all the attacks, gets in people’s faces.

“The second goal, for me, is an absolute disgrace. It’s an absolute disgrace. He’s allowed to wander into that space and get his shot off.

“Casemiro almost notices at the last second, meanders in, hangs a leg in there, and I’m thinking, do you know what? If I was a manager of a team and my holding midfielder did that, that action there and then, I’d say that’ll do. You, come off.”

Foster on how he would deal with Casemiro

Casemiro remained on the pitch for the full 90 minutes against Bournemouth, much to the frustration of United fans who were very critical of his performance.

The United star has been a shadow of his former self and Casemiro’s influence has significantly waned at Old Trafford in the current campaign.

Casemiro has struggled to keep up with the pace of matches and had very little impact compared with his debut season at United.

Foster, who played under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, insisted that he would put the Brazil captain on blast for his performance at the Vitality Stadium.

“And I’d make a point of showing this in the week as well,” he continued.

“Next week, we’d have a meeting on Monday, and I’d show this to everyone and say, ‘You see that, that’s an absolute disgrace.’

“The reason why he was brought off was because you break a neck, you bust a gut, you get in front of that player, you shut it down and you block it.

“What you’ve done there is you’ve just allowed him to walk in, get his shot off and score a goal. Simple as that.”
