The Manchester United U18 team were congratulated by Erik ten Hag on Wednesday for their title win, one interaction caught fans’ attention.

Manchester United have a long and storied history with the youth being a massive part of the club and right now, this is no different.

Under Erik ten Hag the club has returned to the philosophy of using youth that has achieved so much for the club over the years, with the Class of 92′ being the most historic example

More recently, we’ve seen star players like Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay emerge from Carrington.

The past season has seen Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo both come through and begin to star in the first-team.

So with that in mind, and the success of the U18s this season, all eyes are on who’s next to break through into the first team.

Now fans think they’ve spotted a sign of who Ten Hag sees as next up.

Erik ten Hag and Harry Amass’s interaction attracts attention

While the U18s celebrated winning the U18 Premier League, Ten Hag was videoed making his way around the room congratulating the youngsters.

While he shook hands with everyone, there was one interaction which caught particular attention and that was Harry Amass and Ten Hag.

As seen in the video above, Ten Hag showed particular interest in Amass as the pair exchanged a lengthy handshake and some words too.

This left some fans convinced this was a sign of Ten Hag’s intentions for Amass, with similarities being drawn to that now famous clip of Mainoo and the Dutchman following the League Cup win last season.

What Manchester United fans are saying about this

On X, fans noticed this moment and began to comment.

One wrote: “Amass gets the Mainoo treatment”, which is in line with what we’ve considered above.

“He gave Kobbie that look too! What is Ten Hag cooking, this is about to be fire”, wrote another in agreement with the first.

Another continued this sentiment: “We know that look he gives Amass. It’s the same look he gave Mainoo after the league cup final last season. It’s his time soon”.

“The way he looked at Amass!!!! He’s surely on the verge of his debut”, wrote another fan with excitement.

This fan thought the way Ten Hag looked at Amass was clear: “The way he congratulated Amass you can tell he likes him”.
