Manchester United winger Antony believes he's turning his form around and he's promised fans he will continue to make improvements to all aspects of his game.

Erik ten Hag pushed hard to sign Antony in his first summer in charge and an £86million deal was eventually agreed with Ajax after months of protracted negotiations.

Antony scored against Arsenal, Manchester City and Everton in his first three appearances in the Premier League but only scored another goal in the league once that season. The winger ended the campaign with eight goals and three assists in all competitions and although it was hoped he'd improve in his second year, he's continued to underwhelm.

Antony has been widely considered as a failed signing, but there have been encouraging signs in his recent displays and his performance against Chelsea was excellent. Although United lost 4-3 at Stamford Bridge, that evening has the potential to be a turning point for Antony and he sat down with club media this week to discuss his form.

“I'm really happy with my form, I've worked very hard every day towards this,” Antony told MUTV. “I've been working hard in training for months now, so I'm very pleased with my performances and I hope to improve with every game. I know that there is a lot that can be improved and I've worked on this. I'm happy seeing my performances improve game by game."

Antony was asked about his performance against Chelsea and, in particular, his assist for Alejandro Garnacho's second goal. "You can certainly expect a lot of these moments. As I said, my confidence is back through hard work," he said.

“This despite having gone through a lot, I've been through some very difficult moments. Today, I'm turning things around and have been for quite a while now.

"Importantly, I continue working regardless of the situation. I was delighted with the assist for Garnacho and you can definitely expect a lot of good things ahead.”

Antony has two goals and two assists this season but half of that haul came against League One strugglers Newport County in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

After Antony's performance against Chelsea, Ten Hag said: "I know he is capable it. I've seen it so often when I was manager at Ajax but we haven't since this [at United].

"Maybe in the start, we have seen glimpses in the first three games where he scored three goals. But after that, incidentally, like against Barcelona last season where he scored the winning goal. But he's capable of it. On Thursday night, I saw the Antony I want to see."
