Manchester United are in pole position to sign one of Serie A’s top performers this summer, according to reports.

Last summer Manchester United missed out on Napoli centre-back Kim Min-Jae, who signed with Bayern Munich.

At the time, centre-back was not a top priority for the club. Perhaps it really should have been.

This summer the position is the biggest issue to fix, amid an ageing an injury prone backline, many of who need replacing.

Manchester United want Gleison Bremer

Manchester United are considered to be leading the race for Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, who is valued at £60 million.

Calciomercato report Bremer is Juventus’ most saleable asset this summer and Manchester United are the club leading the race for his signature.

There is competition, reportedly, from Newcastle United and Atletico Madrid, however, the report states Manchester United ‘are certainly the most keen on him’.

Gleison Bremer fitness record

Brazil international Gleison Bremer ticks one key box for Manchester United, his availability.

This season he has started 31 Serie A games for Juventus, also netting twice.

In 2022/23 he started 30 league games, while his record at previous club Torino is just as impressive.

During both preceding seasons he started 33 games in each, meaning across the past four seasons he has featured in 124 Serie A fixtures.

There are no fitness red flags over the 27-year-old defender, who could go straight into United’s starting line-up, with room for a developmental prospect to be signed too.
