Mark Robins has one bit of positive injury news ahead of Sunday’s big FA Cup semi-final with Manchester United (3.30pm kick-off), revealing that one of his returning players might just “sneak onto the bench” at Wembley.

Midfielder Jamie Allen has been out since early February, initially with a fractured cheekbone and then, on his return to training, he suffered a calf strain that has kept him out of action for the last month. Providing an update on the 29-year-old, the Sky Blues boss said: “Jamie is joining in today. He’s been around it again this week and will be part of training today, so we’ll see. He may end up sneaking onto the bench.”

City will, of course, be without playmaker Kasey Palmer who is serving an FA Cup suspension after picking up two yellow cards over the course of the competition, while long-term casualty Tatsuhiro Sakamoto will also be in the stands at Wembley.

Elsewhere, the only other recent injury issue has been a calf problem for Matty Godden but the experienced striker made a return to the matchday squad against Birmingham City last weekend, albeit as an unused substitute, and with another full week of training in his legs should be fighting fit for the weekend.
