Taylor Hinds On Returning From Injury And The Upcoming End Of The Season

There’s four matches left in the WSL season, so Taylor Hinds couldn’t have come back at a better time.

Taylor Hinds has come back from injury just in time. Liverpool Women are entering the last stretch of their WSL season, seated two points behind fourth place Manchester United, a vast improvement over last season’s seventh place finish.

Hinds recently returned after a three month layoff with a calf injury sustained in training, and is more than ready to help the squad in their last run of the season.

“I’m buzzing to be back. It felt like a really long time but it actually wasn’t that long. You are just eager to get back aren’t you really, so I’m just happy to be back,” Hinds told the club website recently.

“When I first picked up the injury before the Arsenal game I was like, ‘I’ve never missed a game for Liverpool’, and then I found out the injury was a bit worse than I thought. But credit to our physios and the staff for getting me back and I feel in good shape too.”

Hinds is on the verge of a century of appearances for the Red Women, currently holding 98, and knows that even with four matches left there is loads to play for. Ending the season in the top four would be an incredible achievement for the recently promoted Reds. Liverpool Women have even picked up a little bit of a reputation for being difficult to play against, which Hinds enjoys.

“We are just going to take every game as it comes and just really play our best and do the most that we can to try to get those three points. We’ve got tough games coming up but we are just going to take it game by game,” the defender continued.

“I think that’s what we like to hear as well, that people don’t want to play against us and teams don’t like playing against us. I think that’s good to have and it just goes to show how hard we have worked this season in training and in the games as well.”

Liverpool travel to Bristol City on Saturday, the home of their promotion in 2022, and though it will likely be a difficult match, the vice captain is happy to savor a little bit of nostalgia too.

“They are a tough team to play against, we know that, and they are in a relegation battle so we know it’s going to be hard to try to get those three points and get goals against them, because they are going to work so hard as a team,” Hinds explained.

“It’s always difficult when you play Bristol City because they have a great structure as well so it’s hard to break them down and beat them, but hopefully if we play at our standards then we can get those three points.

“It came up on my memories as well, so it’s nice to go back there and it’s also great for Bristol City to be able to play their games there as well.”
