Manchester United are back at Wembley Stadium this afternoon in the FA Cup semi-final as the Red Devils lock horns with Championship side Coventry City.

The Sky Blues will be determined to upset the apple cart, with Erik ten Hag's side largely considered the favourites. However, Manchester United haven't won the FA Cup since 2016 when they beat Crystal Palace in extra-time. That's despite having reached the final twice since, losing to Chelsea and Manchester City in 2018 and 2023 respectively.

If they get through to the final, it will be a replay of last year's encounter against Manchester City. A Bernardo Silva goal six minutes from time saw City come out as 1-0 winners over Chelsea in the other semi-final.

United also have some injury worries ahead of the match with a shortage of centre-backs available due to injury. It has led to youngster Louis Jackson making the journey to Wembley with the United squad.

So, ahead of the big game, the Manchester Evening News has taken a look at whether or not extra time will be played in the capital this weekend, as well as a few other queries you may have.

Will VAR be used?

Yes, VAR will be used at Wembley Stadium. VAR has also been used in all FA Cup games at Premier League stadiums this season. It was used to review Coventry City's opening goal against Wolves at Molineux.

Will there be extra time?

Yes. If the scores are level after 90 minutes, an extra 30 minutes will be played. If the two teams still can't be separated, a winner will be decided via a penalty shootout.

How many substitutions are allowed?

Five substitutions are permitted, plus a sixth should additional time be required.

When is the final?

The FA Cup final will take place at Wembley on Saturday, May 25.

Does the winner secure European qualification?

Yes. The winner will be rewarded with a place in the new league stage of a rebranded Europa League – unless of course said team has already clinched a place in the Champions League.
