Wembley Stadium will host Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final this weekend. Manchester City face Chelsea on Saturday, while Manchester United lock horns with Coventry City on Sunday.

Following their Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Real Madrid on Wednesday, Pep Guardiola's side will be eager to bounce back. Less than 24 hours later, Coventry City will be looking to cause an upset.

Despite being seen as favourites, Manchester United haven't lifted the FA Cup since 2016, when they defeated Crystal Palace in extra time. The Red Devils have made it to the final twice since then, losing to Chelsea and Manchester City in 2018 and 2023, respectively.

So, with that being said, football.london has explored whether extra time will be played in London this weekend, among other potential questions you may have.

Will VAR be used?

Yes, VAR will be implemented at Wembley Stadium. It has also been utilised in all FA Cup matches at Premier League grounds this season, including for a review of Coventry City's opening goal against Wolves at Molineux.

Will there be extra time?

Yes, if the match ends in a draw after 90 minutes, an additional 30 minutes of extra time will be played. If there's still no winner, the game will be decided by a penalty shootout.

How many substitutions are allowed?

Teams are allowed to make five substitutions, with an additional one permitted should the match go into extra time.

When is the final?

The FA Cup final is scheduled for Saturday, May 25 at Wembley Stadium.

Does the winner secure European qualification?

Indeed, the victorious team will earn a spot in the new league stage of the revamped Europa League unless they've already secured a place in the Champions League.
