Jurgen Klopp was left surprised as he found a signed contract at Old Trafford after Liverpool lost their FA Cup tie last month.

The awkward situation came about as a result of A PR gag featuring American rapper iShowSpeed, who filmed a video of himself being handed a Manchester United contract. He signed a fake deal in the press room but left it on the bench where the managers conduct their press conferences.

Shortly afterwards Klopp, whose team had just lost to a 120th-minute goal, walked in to find the fake contract on the bench. He clearly had a bemused look as he questioned how it had come about.

Klopp was also left to pick up the pieces as his hopes of leaving Liverpool with the quadruple ended. At that point, the Merseysiders were still in four competitions but failed to hold onto an extra-time lead as their rivals knocked them out in dramatic circumstances.

iShowSpeed featured for the YouTube All Stars during their exhibition match with the Sidemen at the London Stadium in September last year. Klopp was unaware of his antics, which helped create a video for social media, and was surprised to find the signed contract sitting in front of him.

Klopp will be a man out of a job come the summer having confirmed he will leave Liverpool once the season ends. He will be a man in demand but has suggested he may call time on his spell in management following his successful tenure at Anfield.

Back when he was making a name for himself at Borussia Dortmund Klopp was approached by Sir Alex Ferguson about potentially succeeding him at Old Trafford. The Scot was retiring and a chat was had, but Klopp never entertained replacing the Scot.

He admitted previously: "We spoke. We spoke not a lot but, for me, it was a lot. It was a big honour, the whole talk, to be honest. But I could not leave Dortmund. You are in April and you are in the middle of planning for next season. You have this player and this player who are coming but then you are not there anymore? That doesn't work. Not in my life.

"I didn't hear about a real offer [from United] but, if there was, I could not have done it. I first had to finish the job with Dortmund and then think about other things. Maybe that is not smart but that is my way.".
