Manchester City have become the first side to book their place in the FA Cup final following their 1-0 win over Chelsea at Wembley.

Bernardo Silva was the match-winner for City, slotting in at the back post in the 84th minute after Kevin De Bruyne’s low cross was deflected into his path by Djordje Petrovic. Nicolas Jackson spurned three presentable chances for Chelsea, who suffered another defeat at Wembley, two months on from their loss against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.

City will try to win the FA Cup for the second successive season, having overcome Manchester United 2-1 a year ago as part of their historic treble. They could face United again, but Erik ten Hag’s side first have to get past Championship side Coventry in the second semi-final on Sunday at 3.30pm.
