Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United is no closer to being assured, despite reaching the FA Cup semi-final.

Manchester United beat Coventry City in the least convincing way possible, with a performance which raised as many questions as it did provide answers.

United required penalties to beat the Championship side after giving up a 3-0 lead. Only a late VAR intervention stopped United losing the game in extra-time.

Now there are fresh links suggesting another manager could be set to replace manager Erik ten Hag.

Thomas Tuchel linked

On Sunday evening (21/4) fresh reports emerged linking outgoing Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel with the Manchester United job.

Kicker journalist Georg Holzner reports: “It seems very unlikely that Thomas #Tuchel will continue at #fcbayern . The FCB management still considers the decision to be the right one. Tuchel, on the other hand, has already been contacted by #ManchesterUnited.”

It is no secret that former Chelsea boss Tuchel is keen on a return to the Premier League, having won the Champions League with the Blues in 2021.

Christian Falk has previously reported Tuchel regards Manchester United as his dream job.

The nature of Manchester United’s narrow win, or lucky escape, against Coventry, has added pressure to Erik ten Hag.

The usual suspects, Jamie Carragher and Chris Sutton went on Sky Sports and BBC Sport after the team’s win, and said they believe Erik ten Hag is doomed to the sack at Manchester United.

There is also a fervour on social media to cut ties with the manager.

So are these links to Thomas Tuchel genuine, or are they simply looking to make some noise for the manager and get his name connected to the Manchester United job?

Tuchel may be seen as a safe pair of hands by new owners Ineos, although no decision is expected before the end of the season.

Had we lost to Coventry, perhaps any timescale may have been moved.

For now, Ten Hag is heading to Wembley. Just keep an eye on the Tuchel links.
