An injury hit Manchester United side have been up against it defensively this season, with five centre-backs missing from the game at Wembley.

There is not quite the same problem in attack. Manchester United are just lighter in this position. Omari Forson‘s recent promotion to the first team ranks has been because Erik ten Hag wants him there.

Ten Hag used Forson heavily in pre-season, handed him his debut earlier in the campaign, before calling on him as a substitute in the FA Cup semi-final.

Forson was not needed in the penalty shootout against Coventry City, but gave a good account of himself during his time on the pitch.

How Omari Forson played v Coventry

Omari Forson was brought on in the 103rd minute in place of midfielder Scott McTominay, who was unable to continue.

Forson tried to make an immediate impact and almost did, forcing Coventry goalkeeper Bradley Collins into a low save, which resulted in a corner.

The 19-year-old showed no fear, attempting another shot at goal which fizzed over. He saw the opportunity to become a hero and score the winner.

Forson completed all four of his passes, winning one tackle, and tried to involve himself as much as possible.

In just a limited amount of time, Forson managed to land as many shots on target (one) as Marcus Rashford did all game, and one more than Rasmus Hojlund.
