Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes became embroiled in a row with star summer signing Rasmus Hojlund earlier this season.

Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford for £72million in last summer's transfer window and initally struggled to settle. But since then he has become a key player for Erik ten Hag, scoring 13 goals in all competitions.

Fernandes has also been one of the few bright points for United during what has been a miserable campaign. But he has also faced criticism, with club legend Roy Keane previously insisting he should be stripped of the captaincy.

And it also appears that he has clashed with his team-mates as the season has spiralled into disaster. One rift in particular emerged beween the midfielder and Hojlund back in November.

According to the Daily Mail, Hojlund complained to boss Ten Hag and his coaching staff that Fernandes was not passing to him enough. The striker had earlier fallen out with Diogo Dalot after the 4-3 defeat to Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Fernandes sided with Dalot in that dispute, with Hojlund then raising his concerns with the coaches. The Danish international was told to address it directly with Dalot, with the duo putting matters to bed.

After that, the United skipper also made his peace with Hojlund, with harmony then restored. Though Hojlund had scored twice in Europe, he was yet to net in any other competition when his complaints were made.

The Dane is in the midst of another drought, going six games without a goal in all competitions. But Ten Hag is not concerned, insisting that he still getting back up to speed following an injury.

"He was in a fantastic run and then broke his rhythm and why? The question was why? I think there are also always many reasons why. For instance, he was in the moment when he was in that run and we had the moment where we had many players available," he said.

"We could bring out a strong side. And after he returned, yeah, we have to make compromises and yeah, of course, that is what decreases the performance. And that has also an impact on everyone, so also on the striker.

"I don't put energy in this, if I am judged fairly or not fairly, that is. I know what we are doing here. I know why I'm here, to bring trophies, to also create, economic value. So we are working on those and, in a process, yeah, you have setbacks.

"I can't get say, going into emotions. No, I see it realistic, I see it rational. And I'm only focusing on my team and to improve my team, to improve the individuals. And that's what I'm here for."
