Manchester United have intensified their efforts to sign 23-year-old Dutch wing-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.

According to Sport BILD via Sport Witness, Manchester United are looking for ways to reinforce their squad in the summer after another disappointing season. The Red Devils have their eyes on Jeremie Frimpong, who has been in sensational form over the past 18 months. And they have stepped up their interest in his services, with his valuation set at €40 million.

Jeremie Frimpong’s rise at Bayer Leverkusen

The former Manchester City player made the move from Celtic to Bayer Leverkusen in the winter of 2021. He has gone from strength to strength since joining the Bundesliga club. And, it seems he has taken his game to another level under the guidance of Xabi Alonso.

Frimpong has been a standout performer for Leverkusen in their dominant run this season. Die Werkself club have been unbeaten in all competitions since the start. They have already won the Bundesliga and are in contention to win the Europa League and the German Cup.

The right-wing-back has played a big part in their success, as he has featured in 40 matches and has contributed towards 24 goals (13 goals & 11 assists). His exceptional performances have not gone unnoticed, and there is no shortage of interest in his services heading into the summer.

Manchester United want to sign Jeremie Frimpong

Manchester United are one of the clubs who have been monitoring Frimpong for a while now. They are looking to acquire his services in the summer and have intensified their efforts to land him at Old Trafford. They are looking for a more attacking option at right-back and with Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future uncertain, the 23-year-old could be an ideal replacement.

While the Red Devils have made a final decision about signing the Bayer Leverkusen star, they will have to make a decision soon as his release clause has an expiry date. The 23-year-old is available for only €40 million, but the clause is only valid before the start of Euro 2024.

So, Manchester United, who have stepped up their interest, need to make a final decision as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Leverkusen are waiting to know what Frimpong has in mind as his departure could result in major changes to their summer plans. The German club are hoping that clubs do not end up triggering his exit and the clause expires as he is a very important part of their first team at this stage.
