Manchester United have announced they will subsidise ticket prices for season ticket holders under the age of 16 who attend next month's FA Cup final at Wembley.

United, who reached the final via a penalty shoutout triumph over Coventry City last weekend, have said they will contribute £30 to the cost of every ticket purchased by an under-16 season ticket holder who will be making the trip to the capital. The Reds, for the second season running, will face neighbours Manchester City in the showpiece event.

The £30 contribution from the club means young supporters will be able to attend the all-Manchester encounter from as little as £5. The ticket subsidy, which is in addition to the £10 reduction the Football Association [FA] applies, adds to a range of club policies to make following United as accessible as possible for youngsters.

United's Director of Fan Engagement, Rick McGagh, told the club's website: "Every young football fan dreams of seeing their team win the FA Cup at Wembley. Working alongside the Fans' Forum, we are delighted to make this dream a more affordable reality for our under 16 season ticket holders by subsidising their tickets so they can attend for as little as £5.

"Promoting and investing in youth is part of the fabric of this football club and we are proud to offer more support to our young fans. We know two trips to Wembley – and three for those also attending the women's FA Cup final - in the space of a month is expensive for all fans, but especially so for young fans who usually attend with other family members.

"We look forward to having lots of our young supporters cheering the team on at Wembley."

It was announced on Tuesday that the final, which is being staged on Saturday, May 25, will kick-off at the traditional time of 3pm. Last season's all-Manchester final kicked-off at the same time.
