Manchester United fans could see a new manager arrive at Old Trafford this summer – and may even see some former United bosses make new moves.

Erik ten Hag has endured a tricky second season at United, failing to build on an encouraging debut season in the hot seat.

That leaves Ineos with a decision to make having come in and seized control of football operations at Old Trafford.

Ineos may want their own man in the hot seat and we have seen new managers linked with United for months now.

The summer is expected to be a real merry-go-round of managers with Bayern Munich and Liverpool pushing for appointments.

AC Milan, Juventus and West Ham could join that hunt for a new manager, leaving United with competition if Ineos decide to axe Ten Hag.

Elsewhere, we could see some former United managers on the move this summer – and not just around club football.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could land new job

We haven’t seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in management since being axed as United boss in November 2021.

Solskjaer’s near-three-year spell as United boss went better than many expected, but few other clubs have been tempted to take a chance on him.

The London Evening Standard now report that Solskjaer has been contacted over a potential deal to become the new Candaa boss.

It’s stated that Jose Mourinho has already rejected an approach whilst Frank Lampard has decided that the doesn’t want to go into international management.

Canada have now turned to Solskjaer whilst also contacting the former Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch as they target a marquee appointment.

Canada are co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup and seemingly want a big name to lead them into that tournament.

Solskjaer may now fit the bill for Canada, with the Norwegian potentially given the chance to coach the likes of Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David moving forward.

Other ex-United bosses on the move?

Solskjaer could step into international management this summer but he may not be the only former United manager on the move this summer.

David Moyes has done fine work at West Ham United but his contract expires at the end of the season.

It looks increasingly likely that Moyes will be moving on, at which point a host of Premier League clubs will surely have an interest in the Scot.

Then there is the aforementioned Mourinho, who left Roma earlier this year but is surely looking to get back into the game this summer.

‘The Special One’ may have lost some shine over the years but somebody will always take a chance on Mourinho and it would not be a surprise to see him return to management this summer.

Even Louis van Gaal may be involved in a managerial decision this summer as he currently serves as an advisor at Ajax.

The Amsterdam giants are seeking a new boss this summer and there are lingering rumours about a potential move to re-appoint Ten Hag.

As Ineos weigh up whether to bring in a new manager of their own, it looks like United’s former bosses will be writing new chapters in their stories this summer.
