If there is anyone who knows how to come out on top in the title tussle with Celtic, it’s Rangers legend Lorenzo Amoruso.

The Italian Stallion spent six years at Ibrox between 1997 and 2003, even captaining the club briefly following a £4m move from Fiorentina.

Famously turning down Manchester United to join the ranks of Rangers, Lorenzo Amoruso remains one of the club’s most popular European stars.

And now, the Italian TV personality has taken to Instagram to send a battle cry to the Rangers team ahead of a tight title run-in with Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Amoruso sends rousing Rangers Instagram post

Lorenzo Amoruso played with his heart on his sleeve at Rangers.

A powerful, commanding defender who had the capacity for a long-range worldie, it feels like the time of Amo was a generation ago and then some.

Sometimes described as the best Italian defender who was never capped for his country, Amoruso gave a huge chunk of his career to Rangers and left everything on the field for the club.

Now, the big defender has taken to Instagram in a rousing post where he shared pictures of his success and what it means to be victorious at Ibrox.

Translated, the inspiring post reads:

“If you know your enemy and you know yourself, your victory is sure. If you know yourself but not the enemy, your chances of winning and losing are the same. If you don’t know the enemy or yourself, you will succeed in every battle.”

Ex-Rangers defender left legacy of trophies

Lorenzo Amoruso knows a thing or two about winning with Rangers.

The Italian defender won a total of nine trophies for the Ibrox side, including three Scottish Premiership titles.

Interestingly, the centre-back was also part of the team which last lifted a treble at Ibrox with this year’s side tasked with matching them in a tense battle with Celtic.

Lorenzo Amoruso and his Rangers teammates kept their nerve to lift the title on the final day of the season back in 2002/03 and Philippe Clement’s team might have to do the same this time out.

The defender also scored the winner in the Scottish Cup Final that season, ending his Rangers career on an almighty high in the 1-0 win over Dundee.

Now, it’s clear big Amo is keeping an eye on developments in Glasgow this season with the club never too far away from the now 52-year-old.

Recently returning to New Edmiston House as part of a Rangers fan event, the former defender retains a strong affinity with the Gers.

Amoruso started his career with Italian side Bari before spending two years at Fiorentina and moving to Rangers in 1997.

Eventually moving to Blackburn Rovers and the Premier League from Ibrox, the defender finished his career in San Marino with Cosmos.
