“We have been here in the past but it doesn’t mean it is going to happen [win the title]. We have to do the things to make it happen.

“We know Brighton never give up and in the first half we found the right rhythm and we scored in the right moments. In the right moments, we punished them. Brighton away is always very tough.

“[The Arsenal goal difference advantage] is difficult to cut. The margin is so big. They score a lot of goals and don’t concede.

“The main thing is to win the game. We have five games left and they are tough ones. One game at a time. Now recover and then Nottingham Forest.”

“What we have done in the past doesn’t mean it will happen in the future,” said the boss.

“To do it again, you have to make it happen. I’d love to say if you win the last three Premier League titles, you will win 4-0 here and win the next games - but it doesn’t happen [like that].

“We have five games left - tough ones like Forest and what they’re playing for.

“What happened to Liverpool can happen to us and Arsenal.

“People don’t expect them to lose against Crystal Palace and yesterday against Everton, but it can happen – it’s football.

“Everton playing [to keep clear of the] relegation zone, play for their lives.

“The way they defend, we decided to play that way without wingers and more fullbacks,” Pep told journalists.

“They did really well. We found them with the process from Bernardo. Bernardo and Kova and the two central defenders.

“They did exceptional and that provokes the spaces for them. And they did really well.”
