Manchester United will be facing Burnley on Saturday, ahead of the game, Paul Merson has predicted the result.

For Erik ten Hag, the final first weeks of this season will likely decide the outcome of his future at Old Trafford.

He will have been encouraged by what he saw on Wednesday during the 4-2 win, but now he needs to do it again against Burnley.

For Manchester United though, there are concerns beyond just facing Burnley, with the recent Marcus Rashford situation unfolding.

Now, pundit Paul Merson has made a prediction about both of these things. Here’s what he’s said.

Paul Merson shares verdict on Marcus Rashford’s situation at Old Trafford

Merson has been writing his Premier League predictions for the upcoming weekend of fixtures on the SportsKeeda website.

But before he got onto his prediction, he gave his opinion on the situation Rashford is currently in at Manchester United.

“Marcus Rashford is really struggling and I think this is the first time in his career where the chips are completely against him.”

Merson then continued to predict what Rashford will do going forward.

“He can so easily ask for a transfer, but I think he will play through it and try to get his confidence back.”

Of course, the situation has gotten even worse for Rashford and United with his recent X post.

Merson predicts Manchester United vs Burnley

Continuing in his column, Merson then predicted the scoreline for this coming weekend’s game against Burnley.

“I don’t like predicting Manchester United as they are a bag of revels.

“Burnley will cause them major problems and will definitely score a goal, but they aren’t tight enough defensively to get a result at Old Trafford.”

After explaining his reasons, Merson then stated his scoreline prediction of a 3-1 win to United which would be a huge result and a second consecutive win.

But for Ten Hag, it’ll be the performance which must be spot on if he is to impress Ineos.
