Man United next manager: Thomas Tuchel emerges as top contender
Thomas Tuchel could be the ideal fit to be the next Manchester United manager as they look set to move on from Erik ten Hag this summer.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke highlighted how Tuchel could be an “interesting” appointment for the Red Devils when he leaves Bayern Munich at the end of the season.
The German could get his hands on the Champions League trophy for a second time in a matter of weeks after the Bundesliga giants secured their place in the semi-finals of the competition with a victory over Arsenal.
O’Rourke revealed that Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi could also be in the frame to replace Ten Hag as the Italian has plenty of admirers in the boardroom at Old Trafford.
Football Insider revealed on 26 April that Ten Hag is under “massive pressure” at Man United and club chiefs are doing their due diligence behind the scenes over who could be their next manager.

There will be some concern at Old Trafford that the gap to the sides at the top of the Premier League has increased this season.

Ten Hag enjoyed a reasonable debut campaign in charge – finishing third in the table – but his side are currently 13 points off the Champions League spots in sixth place.
That isn’t good enough for a club the size of Man United and it appears increasingly likely the Dutchman will be moved on this summer.
Tuchel has endured a challenging season with Bayern, but he does have Premier League experience under his belt following his time with Chelsea and he holds a superb record in European competitions.
The new regime under INEOS will be looking to work closely with the next manager to try and get the Red Devils back to where they want to be, meaning the two parties will have to be aligned in their plans to achieve future success.
