Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is under “massive pressure” after only managing to scrape past Coventry City on penalties in their FA Cup semi-final clash.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the manner of the victory over the Championship side has raised the scrutiny on Ten Hag after INEOS has come in as a new influence on the club.
The new regime is believed to be busy behind the scenes laying the groundwork for a potential new manager to take over from Ten Hag this summer.
The Red Devils have so far endured a difficult season, currently sitting 13 points outside of the Champions League spots in sixth place.
O’Rourke believes the “writing is on the wall” for the Dutchman and even an unlikely FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City may not be enough to save him from the sack.
The 4-2 win over Sheffield United on 24 April perhaps hasn’t helped the 54-year-old’s cause, with the bottom-of-the-table Blades twice taking the lead at Old Trafford.

It’s been very much an up-and-down season for Ten Hag on the back of what was a respectable first campaign in the Premier League after making the move from Ajax in 2022.
O’Rourke suggested Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his fellow Man United chiefs are probably already working on bringing in a new manager as they don’t see the Dutch boss as the right man to lead the “new revolution” at Old Trafford.
Football Insider revealed on 26 April that outgoing Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel and Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi are now in the frame to replace Ten Hag.
But if a change is to be made, O’Rourke revealed the next manager isn’t going to have much money to spend due to the club’s financial fair play situation.
The Red Devils will also take a financial hit from not qualifying for the Champions League next season and that could impact the type of players they can bring through the door.
