Manchester United will pursue Jeremie Frimpong if Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves

Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong at the end of the season.

A report from Give Me Sport claims they will only move for the 23-year-old Dutchman if Aaron Wan-Bissaka leaves the club at the end of the season.

That defender has a £34 million release clause in his contract and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United make their move to sign him. The 23-year-old has been in outstanding form this season and he helped Bayer Leverkusen win the league title.

He could prove to be a quality acquisition for Manchester United and he would help them going forward. He has shown his quality in German football, and he will look to make his mark in England now.

Meanwhile, the former Crystal Palace defender has been linked with a move away from Manchester United recently. It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils decide to cash in on him eventually.

Frimpong would be an upgrade on Wan-Bissaka

Frimpong would not only be a quality replacement for the Englishman, he could even prove to be an upgrade.

The Dutchman has 13 goals and 11 assists in all competitions despite being a defender. He is likely to improve with coaching and experience and he could be a key player for the Red Devils going forward.

The reported asking price seems quite reasonable for a player of his quality as well and the German club will not be able to stop him from leaving the club if Manchester United trigger his release clause.

Ideally, the Red Devils should look to bring in a full back who can excel at both ends of the pitch and therefore selling Wan-Bissaka would be the right decision. They should do everything in their power to sign the 23-year-old Bundesliga defender in the coming weeks.

Manchester United need to sign quality players if they want to win major trophies. The 26-year-old English defender is simply not good enough to start regularly for a club hoping to win league titles and therefore he needs to be upgraded in the coming months.
