Antony scored his first goal of the season against Burnley and celebrated in a rather bizarre fashion.
It’s safe to say that it hasn’t exactly been the best of seasons for Antony at Manchester United. The Brazilian has fallen way out of favour in Erik ten Hag‘s regime.
He’s really not lived up to his £85m price tag and has probably been one of Erik ten Hag’s worst signings so far during his Manchester United tenure.
However, his performance against Burnley does need to be somewhat commended. He even won man of the match in the eyes of Red Devils supporters.
Antony scores first Premier League goal this season for Man Utd
Antony latched onto a loose Sander Berge ball in the 75th minute and sprinted towards the Burnley goal. Despite being very off balance, the Brazilian managed to get a shot off and thankfully it nested in the bottom right corner.
Antony then went ballistic in his celebrations, but most notably went towards the cameraman to pick up a Sonic the Hedgehog toy, which he held in the air.

Antony celebrated with Sonic the Hedgehog as it is his son’s favourite cartoon and he also wanted to pay homage to his new baby daughter, Lavinne, who his wife is currently pregnant with.
Antony told The United Stand: “Sonic is my son Lorenzo’s favourite cartoon. He loves. He is growing up and is incredible, a little partner in my life, he makes me happy every day. And we are also very excited for the arrival of our little Lavinne. A baby who is already very loved by everyone.
“God has been very good to our family. I’m happy to score a goal, I was looking for that, to be able to pay homage to them, as they give me motivation to continue my work in the best possible way with the United shirt, which I respect and love so much.”
He also put this Tweet out the day after, announcing the name of his new daughter.
