Manchester United and Arsenal keen on Marc Guehi

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is reportedly thought to be on the radar of Arsenal and Manchester United.

A report from The Times has claimed that Marc Guehi is a target for Manchester United and Arsenal heading into the summer transfer window. The Englishman is likely to cost around £55 million, and it will be interesting to see if the two English clubs are ready to break the bank for him.

Guehi is undoubtedly one of the best young defenders in the Premier League, and he could prove to be a quality long-term investment for both clubs. Arsenal will need to add more quality to their squad if they want to continue challenging Manchester City for major trophies.

Guehi will help them improve defensively, and he could prove to be an upgrade on Gabriel Magalhaes. So, it is hardly surprising that the North London club are considering securing Guehi’s services in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal need quality players at their disposal, especially now that they are competing in the UEFA Champions League regularly. Mikel Arteta needs to be able to rotate his squad without a significant drop of in quality. The arrival of the Crystal Palace defender will help Arsenal immensely.

Manchester United want Marc Guehi

Meanwhile, Manchester United are in desperate need of a quality central defender and want to sign Guehi. Jonny Evans will likely move on in the summer upon the expiry of his contract. Meanwhile, Raphael Varane and Harry Maguire have in and out of the starting lineup this season, and both players have been linked with moves away from the club.

So, Manchester United most look to bring in a quality central defender this summer, and the 23-year-old Crystal Palace star would be a superb addition. He has been linked with a return to his former club Chelsea as well. Guehi might feel that he has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge if the Blues come calling for him.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually. The £55 million valuation of the defender might seem steep right now. But he has the quality to establish himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League for the foreseeable future. He could easily justify the investment in the coming seasons.

In addition, the Crystal Palace defender is only 23, and he will improve with coaching and experience. Both Arsenal and Manchester United must do everything in their power to get the deal done in the coming weeks.
