Manchester United prepared to sell most of their first-team players

Manchester United are bracing for a big summer window, as they are now ready to sell most of their first-team players for the right money.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United will be open to suitable offers to sell most of their first-team players. INEOS have potentially put all but three players up for sale as they are aiming for a more frugal approach in the transfer market with the likely absence of Champions League football.

Manchester United open to selling most players

Manchester United are one of the clubs affected by PSR obligations, and the likely absence of Champions League football could restrict their spending even further. Under the leadership of INEOS, the club is planning to offload several players, including Marcus Rashford, if they can get the right price.

Many players have underperformed during the season, as Manchester United now competes with Newcastle United for a final Europa League place. Mathematically, they are still hunting for a top-four place but are unlikely to beat either Aston Villa or Tottenham. Hence, they might raise funds through player sales and factor in the saved wages of some high-profile Bosman departures.

Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial have expiring contracts, as the club can invest their saved wages in a new player. Marcus Rashford’s future also seems uncertain amid the boos towards the forward in a recent FA Cup clash. Manchester United might sell him for the right price, although they will only do so if the winger desires for a new challenge.

Similarly, they can offload Casemiro, with Erik ten Hag already identifying Youssef Fofana as his possible replacement. Antony and Jadon Sancho’s futures are also doubtful, with the Red Devils open to selling the Brazilian for an ‘acceptable’ fee amid concerns his value has massively depreciated. Others like Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Christian Eriksen are also in danger of being axed.

Three players out of bounds

While Manchester United are open to selling most of their players, as per the report, three of their current young stars are out of bounds. The club are not willing to entertain any approaches for Rasmus Hojlund, Kobie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho as they look to build the future around them.

Bruno Fernandes might also be one of those, after another impressive season from the Portuguese attacking midfielder. Overall, the club will look to raise funds through transfers and add that to their limited budget ahead of the summer, with sales likely to become the more significant story ahead of the summer window.
