West Ham United double offer to Julen Lopetegui, Manchester United initiate contact

West Ham United have reportedly doubled their offer for Julen Lopetegui, with Manchester United also making tentative contacts.

According to Corriere della Sera via Sport Witness, West Ham United have doubled their financial offer for Julen Lopetegui to prise him to the club. Meanwhile, Manchester United have also reportedly made tentative contacts to enquire about the Spaniard, as the former Real Madrid manager seems to be on the move.

West Ham United double Julen Lopetegui offer?

That is the claim from the Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, which reported about Julen Lopetegui’s potential new job with links with AC Milan. The suggestions are that the Rossoneri crowd are not too keen to see the former Real Madrid manager in the dugout and might prefer Antonio Conte as their new manager.

That leaves West Ham as a potential option for Lopetegui to consider, with the Hammers making an offer, as reported earlier. The claim is that the East Londoners have now doubled their financial offer for the former Real Madrid manager to lure him away, knowing they might face competition for his signature.

West Ham could part ways with David Moyes when his contract expires in the summer and are already looking at many names as replacement options. Vincent Kompany became the latest to be linked, while they also tried to lure in Ruben Amorim for the job.

Marco Silva is also under consideration. But if the suggestions about doubling the offer for Lopetegui are accurate, then the former Real Madrid manager is their primary target. With the season about to end shortly, West Ham could accelerate their efforts to replace Moyes, with Lopetegui in pole position as things stand.

Manchester United make enquiry?

Manchester United had seen links to Lopetegui many months ago, and now a report from Corriere della Sera via Sport Witness has claimed they have made tentative contacts. The Red Devils could part ways with Erik ten Hag in the close season, and the former Real Madrid manager is among those considered, but not very seriously.

INEOS are wary of Lopetegui’s quality and minimal experience in England. But they must be more serious about the Spaniard should ten Hag leave. Manchester United and their fans would ideally target a big name in the process of replacing the Dutchman, meaning Lopetegui may be an outside option in any case.
