Aston Villa have spent slightly more than Tottenham Hotspur on their player wages this season but have massively underspent compared to Manchester United.

Unai Emery's side find themselves on the verge of qualification to the Champions League next season, currently sitting fourth on 67 points. This is a lead of seven points ahead of Spurs who have two games in hand as the Premier League begins to wind up.

Villa managed to extend their lead over the North London club last weekend thanks to a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Villa Park. However, Emery may feel his side should have seen out the match having led 2-0 at half time.

Tottenham lost the following day to Arsenal which meant it was ultimately a point gained rather than two dropped. According to Capology, the West Midlands club are spending £2,135,000 per week on player salaries, which is only £5,000 more than Spurs.

The club's joint highest earners are; Clement Lenglet, Boubacar Kamara and Youri Tielemans on £150,000. Moussa Diaby and Ollie Watkins are just behind on £130,000 while John McGinn, Lucas Digne, Emi Martinez and Leon Bailey all rake in £120,000 per week.

As for Tottenham, their big earners are far above the rest of the squad. Son Heung-min sits at the top on £190,000 followed by James Maddison on £170,000. Timo Werner and Cristian Romero are both costing £165,000 per week but only Dejan Kulusevski and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg bring in more than £100,000 weekly.

These figures do pale in comparison to United though who sit at the top of the rankings spending a whopping £3,821,000 per week on player salaries. Their top earner Casemiro brings home an eye-watering £350,000 per week.
