On-loan Manchester United man Jadon Sancho lit up the Champions League on Wednesday night, here’s how German press reacted.

It gets tougher by the week to justify writing Jadon Sancho off at Old Trafford as he is showing signs of returning to his former glory,

On Wednesday night was the biggest sign of all as he became the first Englishman to ever complete 10+ dribbles (13 total as per FotMob).

He toyed with the PSG defence as he ran rings around them from the right-wing position.

For Manchester United fans watching on, this was frustrating as it was a display arguably better than anything Alejandro Garnacho, Antony or Marcus Rashford have done all season.

After Dortmund walked out 1-0 winners in the first leg, German media have been reacting to Sancho’s performance.

How German press reacted to Sancho’s performance

German press as you’d expect after a display like this, were full of praise for the loanee.

To begin with, Sport wrote that after a difficult opening period, Sancho, “seized the game more and more. After the break then bear strong. Did what he wanted in his best phases on the outside track. Would have actually deserved an assist.”

Spox continued the praise, writing: “Twelve ball losses in the first half alone were clearly too many. But otherwise, a lot went well for Sancho. Most of the attacks of the hosts came over his right side: For example, the super combo with Brandt and Sabitzer, which almost led to the early lead (14th). Irresistible start even before Dortmund’s great opportunity after just over an hour. Gave the secret playmaker at BVB, with the most ball contacts.”

Another outlet lauding him was RAN, who wrote: “He then works out his extra class more and more. PSG’s defence could hardly get a grip on him. Brilliant how he prepares big chances.”

Sky Germany hailed Sancho as being “Dortmund’s dribbling king, who especially played a knot in the legs of Nuno Mendes.”

Ruhr24 wrote: “Sancho is getting better and better. His dance was better through the Parisian sixteenth after just under half an hour. With increasing playing time, more and more dangerous. Many good dribblings. The best BVB player of the evening.”

Finally, Sport1 reviewed his display, writing: “Played his best game since his BVB return. Sprayed with the joy of playing. Especially at the beginning very noticeable. Often on the ball. Went into dribbling again and again. With his playfulness, he remembered the Sancho from past days.”

What does this mean for Manchester United?

For everyone at United except Erik ten Hag, the prospect of him returning this summer with renewed confidence will be tantalising.

In fact, the Dutchman is probably the only manager in world football right now who’d not want to keep Sancho.

So Sancho’s form probably hands United a couple of options, with Dortmund likely keen to keep him, perhaps another loan would work.

On the other hand, he’s built his value back up so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him sold either.

However, if a new manager arrives, there’s a good chance Sancho is made a starter at Old Trafford.
