Former Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has reportedly turned down the chance to become Bayern Munich manager.
Rangnick, who was in interim charge of United for the second half of the 2021/22 season, has been overseeing the Austria national team since his departure from Old Trafford. He's led them to Euro 2024 qualification and is tied down until 2026.
But that didn't stop Bayern approaching him about their managerial vacancy, with Thomas Tuchel exiting come the end of the season. German publication Bild reported they'd been trying hard to recruit him in recent weeks.

AmazonBut Rangnick is now said to have knocked back their advances. It's another blow for the Bundesliga giants, who were initially competing with Liverpool for Xabi Alonso.
That was until the former midfielder committed himself to Bayer Leverkusen, where he'll defend their first-ever title next season. Their attention then turned to ex-boss Julian Nagelsmann.
However, he too rejected a return to his old club, extending his deal with the Germany national team ahead of their home tournament.

Rangnick was the third choice, which sparked backlash from supporters who launched a petition to urge them to stick with Tuchel as they felt he is the better option.
His time at United was doomed from the start, filling in following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while Red Devils chiefs conducted their hunt for a full-time successor. He finished sixth having struggled to get the players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, on side.
In his home country, though, Rangnick is hailed as the "father of Gegenpressing". Bayern, who are still gunning for Champions League glory after a 2-2 first leg draw in their semi-final with Real Madrid, clearly respect his resume - but they will now have to turn to plan D.
