Peter Schmeichel quizzed Jadon Sancho about his club future after the Manchester United misfit’s masterclass performance in the Champions League semi-finals for Borussia Dortmund.

Jadon Sancho played a starring role for Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday after the Bundesliga outfit sealed a 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the first-leg tie.

Niclas Fullkrug’s opener in the first half at the Westfalenstadion was enough to hand Dortmund control of the two-leg Champions League semi-final encounter.

Sancho earned high praise for his Dortmund performance against PSG, with Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand among those who reacted to it.

Dortmund will travel to the Parc des Princes for the return leg on 7th May, with the German club closing in on a place in the final of the Champions League.

Either PSG or Dortmund will face Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in the Champions League final at Wembley in June.

Schmeichel asks Jadon Sancho about his future

Jadon Sancho has been able to revive his career at Borussia Dortmund after his move away from Old Trafford in the January transfer window.

Manchester United agreed to loan the 24-year-old winger to the German club after Sancho’s falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.

Sancho was banished from the United first team after his public row with Erik ten Hag and reportedly refused to apologise to the Dutchman over their spat.

The United misfit had made a name for himself in his first spell with Dortmund before his blockbuster £73m move to Old Trafford in 2021.

Following Dortmund’s Champions League win, Peter Schmeichel probed Sancho about the prospects of extending his stay at the Westfalenstadion.

“Are you going to stay?” Schmeichel asked Sancho on CBS Sports.

Sancho remained cryptic on his club future and told Schmeichel that he is “focused” on the here and now at Dortmund.

“I really don’t know. But I’m focused on just the present right now,” he said.

Could Sancho have a second chance at Man Utd?

Sancho’s relationship with United manager Ten Hag completely fractured in 2023 and his loan move to Dortmund has been a short-term fix for the club.

However, the former England international’s future at Old Trafford remains shrouded in mystery and repairing his relationship with Ten Hag is a tall order.

United could look to recuperate as much of a transfer fee as possible for Sancho and offload the Dortmund winger’s hefty wages from their salary books.

Ten Hag made a clear stance on the ex-Three Lions winger’s future at Old Trafford after Borussia Dortmund knocked Atletico Madrid out of the Champions League.

When asked if anything had changed about Sancho’s United future, he said in April: “No, but we know Jadon Sancho is a fantastic football player, so that is not a surprise for us.

“That is not the issue.”
