Manchester City, Newcastle United register interest in Jarrad Branthwaite

Manchester City and Newcastle United have reportedly expressed their interest in Jarrad Branthwaite, a target for Manchester United and Real Madrid.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Manchester City and Newcastle United are keen on signing Jarrad Branthwaite. The two Premier League clubs have registered their interest in the Everton defender, a target for Manchester United and Real Madrid. Meanwhile, the Toffees want around £75 million to part ways with the English centre-back.

Jarrad Branthwaite, and the story of a turnaround

Jarrad Branthwaite has made significant strides since returning to Everton from a loan spell with PSV Eindhoven. The stint at the Dutch club tremendously helped the 21-year-old to regain his confidence. And he resumed his duties for the Merseyside outfit with renewed vigour.

The Englishman has been a mainstay at the back for Everton thus far this season, amassing 3,387 minutes of game time across 38 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with three goals. Meanwhile, Branthwaite’s progress at Goodison Park has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Real Madrid.

A man in demand

Widespread reports have heavily linked Manchester United with Branthwaite. The Red Devils are scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans. The Everton centre-back is thus a viable target for Manchester United.

As for Real Madrid, they can do with a new centre-back amid concerns that Nacho will depart from the Santiago Bernabeu as a free agent this summer. In addition, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are on the wrong side of 30. So, it is hardly surprising that Carlo Ancelotti has pushed for Real Madrid to sign Jarrad Branthwaite.

The latest update has revealed that Manchester City and Newcastle United have expressed their interest in Branthwaite. Everton will demand around £75 million to part ways with the 21-year-old centre-back. The price tag should not be a problem for Manchester City or Newcastle United. The same goes for Manchester United and Real Madrid.

However, the report suggests that Everton might have to lower the asking price to around £65 million instead of £75 million. It will be interesting to see where the Englishman plies his trade in the 2023/24 season.
