Borussia Dortmund cheekily responded to Jadon Sancho's critics after his Champions League semi-final performance against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Manchester United forward, on loan in Germany since January, was side-lined from Erik ten Hag's team last year. Sancho found himself benched after United's 3-1 loss at Arsenal in September. After the match, Ten Hag suggested the winger had not met training standards prior to the game.

Sancho later disputed Ten Hag's claims in a social media post, stating he was being "made a scapegoat," and arguing that he was indeed training to the required standard. The 24-year-old was then instructed to apologise to Ten Hag if he wished to re-join the first-team squad following his post, but refused.

Following a standout performance against PSG in Europe's top-tier competition, Sancho's temporary club seemed to take a sly jab at United and his critics. So far this season, Sancho has netted three goals and provided two assists across all competitions.

"You all owe him an apology, we were ALWAYS familiar with his game," posted the Bundesliga club's official account on X, previously known as Twitter, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Sancho made his move to Old Trafford in 2021 from Dortmund for a hefty £72.9million. However, the Englishman's time at the club was marked by struggle, managing to score only 12 goals over two seasons.

In a post-game chat with CBS sports, when quizzed about his future, he responded: "Who me? I really don't know but I am just focused on impressing right now."

Ten Hag also praised Sancho's recent performances for the German giants, but did not make any suggestions that there may be a route back into his plans for the former England international.

The Dutchman said: “Yesterday he showed why Manchester United bought him and why he represents a high value for Manchester United. That is good. I'm happy for Jadon, with his performance yesterday. We'll see what is going to happen in the future.”
