Sir Jim Ratcliffe's net worth has soared ahead of his first transfer window with Manchester United.

The INEOS founder, who has been making off-pitch changes at Old Trafford since taking over two-and-a-half months ago, is set to bring a fresh look to the club by the start of the 2024-25 season. On Christmas Eve last year, Ratcliffe announced his plans to acquire a minority stake in the club, and by February, the 71-year-old was given the go-ahead to become a minority owner of United.

Ratcliffe played a pivotal role in bringing in Manchester City's CEO Omar Berrada, before appointing Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc as directors. In a further shake-up of the football department team, Jason Wilcox was named Technical Director last month.

The future of United boss Erik ten Hag remains uncertain after a season marked by inconsistency. Major changes are also anticipated within the playing squad as the Reds aim to reclaim their position at the pinnacle of English football.

Fortunately for Ratcliffe and United, the English billionaire's wealth has grown since he finalised his 27.7% purchase of the club. On the day of completion (February 21), Ratcliffe's net worth stood at €18.3billion (£15.6bn), a figure that has since seen some fluctuation, reports the Manchester Evening News.

After plummeting to €17.5bn (£14.9bn) later that month, his net worth soared as high as €21.8bn (£18.6bn) in April. Fast forward a month and Ratcliffe is now sitting on a fortune of €19.5bn (£16.6bn), according to the Bloomberg Index, marking a welcome £1bn increase in the value of his assets since.

Depending on where United land at the end of the 2023/24 season, Ratcliffe could be in for another financial boost just in time for the summer transfer window. The £1bn surge in his personal wealth couldn't have come at a better time, with a pivotal window for the club looming.
