Manchester United are once again showing interest in Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot, it has been claimed.

The France international, 29, is due to become a free agent in the summer and is free to talk to interested clubs from overseas. Rabiot has previously been linked with Premier League clubs, including United.

Rabiot was touted as a Red Devils target during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tenure, although the Norwegian eventually decided against pursuing a deal for the then-Paris Saint-Germain star. He was also considered by Erik ten Hag last summer.

While United's interest has twice failed to materialise into anything concrete, Italian outlet La Stampa, via Calciomercato, are now claiming that United have rekindled their interest in Rabiot.

Rabiot was in a similar situation last year after running his contract down. He eventually penned a season-long extension to keep him in Turin for the 2023/24 campaign.

While Rabiot has been on United's radar before, both Ten Hag and Solskjaer decided against pursuing a deal for the midfield maestro, who spent seven years at PSG before joining Juventus on a free transfer in the summer of 2019.

It was concerns over Rabiot's attitude which prompted to Solskjaer to pass on a deal that he ultimately deemed to be too risky, according to reports shortly before Rabiot signed for Juventus. And Ten Hag also parked interest in Rabiot last summer.

Manchester United are expected to be active in the upcoming transfer window, which will be the first one overseen by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos, although player sales may be required to supplement the club's transfer budget given Champions League qualification is now no longer possible.

It was recently reported that the new Old Trafford hierarchy would consider reasonable offers for the majority of the current playing squad, while United will actively try to offload a handful of high earners, such as Casemiro and Jadon Sancho. Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial will free up funds by leaving at the end of their contracts.

There is also still uncertainty over whether or not Ten Hag will remain in his post ahead of the summer window. The beleaguered Dutchman is under pressure after overseeing a significantly disappointing Premier League campaign and has not been given any assurances over his future by Ineos or Ratcliffe.
