Manchester United keen on Giorgi Mamardashvili

Manchester United are ready to battle it out with European giants for the services of Valencia shot-stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

According to a report by Fichajes, Giorgi Mamardashvili could part ways with Valencia in the summer given the amount of interest in his services. Multiple top clubs from across Europe are keen on having him in their squad and Manchester United are one of them.

Mamardashvili has gone from strength to strength since joining them in the summer of 2021. While he joined them on an initial loan spell from Dinamo Tbilisi, the move was made permanent at the start of 2022.

The 23-year-old has been a regular feature in their goal and he has put in consistent performances. In the ongoing season, he has 12 clean sheets in his 33 league outings. Mamardashvili is expected to only get better with time, as a result, European giants are ready to prise him from the Spanish club.

Manchester United want to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili

While his contract with Valencia runs until the summer of 2027, they will knock on the door for his signature in the upcoming transfer window. Manchester United are one of the clubs keen on having him in their squad as they look to add stability at the back.

The Red Devils made a significant investment to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan last summer. The former Ajax shot-stopper hasn’t lived up to the expectations. While his performances have improved in the recent past, people at the club are not really sure about him being their number one going forward.

Bayern & Atletico are in the mix

As a result, they are looking at the Valencia goalkeeper but United will have to compete with Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid for his services. The Spanish giants have been monitoring the 23-year-old for a while now. With Jan Oblak’s potential departure on the horizon, Diego Simeone is looking at Mamardashvili as an ideal replacement.

Meanwhile, Bayern have also been keeping a close eye on his progress for months. Manuel Neuer is in the final phase of his career and the German giants see the Valencia shot-stopper as someone who is worthy to take his place in goal.
