IT'S been pretty much sweetness and light ever since Ange Postecoglou walked through the doors of the Tottenham Stadium his summer.

But the former Celtic boss's honeymoon period appears to have come to an end after a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea left their hopes of finishing fourth in tatters.

It was a golden chance to make inroads into Aston Villa's seven-point advantage as the number of remaining games ticks down.

Footage shared by SkySports during the match showed the big Australian venting his fury at centre half Cristian Romero and midfielder Pape Sarr for not being proactive enough with their passing.

With perhaps an expletive or two thrown in, he was spotted screaming: "Stop passing it backwards."

Former Man Utd star Gary Neville said: "He's having a right go at Sarr, he's having a right go at Romero. He has snapped, has Postecoglou."

To be fair, the big Aussie shouldered his share of the blame at the end of the game for a run which has seen them LOSE their last three matches - with clashes with Liverpool and Man City still to come.

One fan wrote: "It's literally his football that's got us in this absolute state."

Another said: "He knows he’s under pressure. He knows Levy will get rid if this gets worse."

The former Hoops boss - who signed off at Parkhead with a treble - has also come under criticism for not taking a more hands-on approach to set plays.

Once again that came back to bit the Spurs gaffer - with both goals coming from set plays.

When asked about his team's performance by Sky Sports, Postecoglou said: "It's not good enough and I've got to take responsibility for that, that's on me.

"I'm the manager, I'm the one that's putting them out there and it was nowhere near good enough.

"As I said I've got to take a look at myself in all this and see how I can have more of an impact."

When asked about his message getting through to his players, a visibly annoyed Postecoglou said: "Come on mate. We didn't play well.

"What do you want me to sit there and write a dossier on where we went wrong?

Spurs' set piece woes

BY TOM BARCLAY

ANGE POSTECOGLOU took the blame after another set-piece disaster left Tottenham’s Champions League hopes hanging by a thread.

Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson headed home from free-kicks to take the number of goals Spurs have shipped from dead-ball situations to SIXTEEN this season, excluding penalties.

Only Luton, Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest have conceded more in a week where Postecoglou downplayed the importance of set-pieces.

“We didn’t have the mindset that I expect us to have. That’s on me, I’ve got to take responsibility for that.

“I’m the one putting them out there and preparing them for it. When we’re so far off it, I’ve got to look at myself and see how I’m preparing this team for it.

“We lacked a real conviction and positive mindset in our football. We didn’t really have any fluency, any sort of aggression with and without the ball.

“It’s a bit unlike us because if nothing else we’ve always been competitive."

He later added: "We had bigger issues tonight than set pieces.”
