Newcastle United bolstered hopes for a second consecutive season of European football as they overtook Manchester United in sixth place with a 4-1 thumping over Burnley at Turf Moor. Elsewhere, Nottingham Forest gained a huge advantage in the relegation battle with a 3-1 victory over 10-man and already relegated Sheffield United. Meanwhile, the London derby between Fulham and Brentford ended 0-0.

Newcastle United leapfrogged Manchester United into the Premier League top six following their resounding 4-1 victory against Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday.
Eddie Howe's side, who have now won five of their last seven matches in the top-flight, went into half-time with a 3-0 lead, courtesy of goals from Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff and Bruno Guimaraes.
Seven minutes after the interval, Alexander Isak spurned a penalty straight into the arms of Burnley goalkeeper Arijanet Muric. But the Sweden international redeemed himself just four minutes later by extending his side's lead to four.
Burnley defender Dara O'Shea scored a consolation four minutes from time, but Newcastle eased to victory to bolster their attempt to secure European football in back-to-back seasons.
Howe's side are now sixth, two points above United who have a game in hand and face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday. Tottenham sit four points above in fifth place.
The defeat for Burnley was worsened by Nottingham Forest's 3-1 win over 10-man and already relegated Sheffield United - extending the gap between Vincent Kompany's side and Premier League safety to five points with two games remaining.
Ben Brereton Diaz opened the scoring on 17 minutes from the penalty spot to put United ahead. However, Callum Hudson-Odoi hit back 10 minutes later to level proceedings.
And Nuno Espirito Santo's side were quick out the blocks in the second half to open up a two-goal cushion through Ryan Yates and a Hudson-Odoi second.
Sheffield United's afternoon was further dampened by the sending off of defender Anel Ahmedhodzic in stoppage-time after he received his second yellow card. The defeat was United's fifth in succession, with the relegated club having picked up just one league victory in 2024.
The result, though, still had huge implications in the Premier League relegation battle as it sent Burnley almost out of sight with a five-point disparity. Luton Town are now seemingly the only team who could pose a threat to Forest's top-flight status. Rob Edwards' side sit three points and one place below Forest.
Elsewhere in Saturday's Premier League action, a west London derby between Brentford and Fulham ended in a 0-0 stalemate at the G-Tech Community Stadium.
The low-key affair was indicative of both sides' secure status in the league as the season draws to a close, with neither a push for European football or a battle with relegation any longer a concern for either side.
Earlier in the day, Arsenal kept their title hopes alive with a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth on TNT Sports at the Emirates Stadium.
Bukayo Saka scored a first-half penalty, before Leandro Trossard and Declan Rice furthered the hosts' tally to open up a four-point lead on second-placed Manchester City ahead of their match against Wolves.
