Graham Potter could face a choice between Holland’s traditional rivals after it emerged he is on Feyenoord’s shortlist of candidates to replace Arne Slot, who is set to take over at Liverpool.

Potter is also one of Ajax’s main targets as they seek a permanent head coach, after a dismal season that is limping towards a conclusion with an interim, John van ‘t Schip, in charge.

Both clubs are attracted by Potter’s track record which, until a gruelling seven months in charge of Chelsea, was one of developing teams while playing in a progressive, tactically detailed, style.
