Man United transfer news: ‘Huge’ Marcus Rashford update – sources

Manchester United could face issues trying to sell Marcus Rashford this summer due to his “huge” wages, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed Man United chiefs are willing to listen to offers for Rashford and several other first-team players once the transfer window reopens.

The England international has endured a difficult season at Old Trafford, with his performances being criticised by various stakeholders.

O’Rourke admitted there would have been “loads of takers” for the 26-year-old last summer following his outstanding displays in the previous campaign.

But the forward’s stock has fallen so much over the past nine months that it’s unlikely any top clubs will be willing to match the Red Devils’ valuation of him, with his contract set to run until 2028.

Man United willing to listen to offers for Marcus Rashford

Man United only handed Rashford a new deal last summer, with reports suggesting he’s earning as much as £325,000 a week.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is believed to be open to selling the forward as he looks to overhaul the squad under the new regime at Old Trafford.

It comes after the Englishman has scored just eight goals in 40 appearances this season, significantly less than the 30 strikes he registered last year.

O’Rourke noted how Rashford has also had problems off the field during this campaign after he was pictured in a nightclub in Belfast back in January.

It appears an exit could now be on the cards this summer, but the big question will be whether any interested parties are willing to match his wages and present the club with a reasonable offer.
