Ex-Manchester United star Paul Parker has accused Rasmus Hojlund of "behaving really childishly" - but believes it is down to the influence of his team-mates.

The Dane is in the midst of his first season with the club following his switch from Atalanta in the summer. Hojlund had a slow start to life in the Premier League, failing to score until Boxing Day before he then enjoyed a notable purple patch in front of goal.

Hojlund's antics though haven't impressed the former player. He was part of the XI that were hammered at Crystal Palace on Monday night with the young forward accused of hitting the deck too easily and appealing for decisions - albeit he's been absolved of some blame.

Parker told Tipsbladet : "If we're going to talk about Hojlund, he's in a very bad place at the moment. He's behaving really childishly at the moment, and it seems like his teammates have had a negative influence on him because they also behave that way. He's a big guy, but he keeps throwing himself, and it's annoying to watch."‌

"The fans in Manchester are also talking about being irritated with Hojlund because he's gotten into a rhythm where he blames others for not going well for him at the moment. It's just important to remember that the whole team is playing terribly. It's not just Hojlund's fault, but he's part of the problem."

Despite struggling for regular goals Hojlund has largely avoided the criticism that has come firing the way of the squad. His general play has earned plaudits and plenty believe he will eventually come good given time with United investing in him for the future.

Bruno Fernandes, the club's captain, has been regularly singled out for the way he acts on the pitch. What was once hailed as driving standards is now being described as whinging with the Portugal international often getting animated with his team-mates when things go against them.

After a defeat last season Gary Neville said: "I'm going to start with Bruno Fernandes. I've had enough of him throwing his arms around at his team-mates; I've had enough of him not running back; he whinges at everybody."

Marcus Rashford is another player who has been criticised for similar. Rio Ferdinand has said: "I've not seen Marcus showing that he loves what he's doing for a while and that would be my concern. I think as a club that's the question I'd want to ask of him. Body language is so important and for a long time, his body language has been someone who seems stressed or not happy with where he's at."
