It has been revealed who the bookies' favourite is to replace Erik ten Hag as the next permanent Manchester United manager. The 54-year-old currently faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford, with his contract set to expire at the end of next season.

With top-four mathematically impossible to achieve and Europa League qualification far from guaranteed, Ten Hag finds himself under immense pressure to transform the club's fortunes. Manchester United have won just two of their last 10 games in the Premier League, plummeting to eighth in the table.

While the former Ajax boss has struggled to garner results in the English top flight, he has led the club to the FA Cup final. The Red Devils will lock horns with Manchester City at Wembley Stadium at the end of May, with victory securing European football.

Despite this, it remains to be seen whether or not Ten Hag has a long-term future at Old Trafford – even more so after Crystal Palace thrashed Manchester United at Selhurst Park on Monday evening. With the Dutchman fighting for his job, Sky Bet named 10 potential candidates to become the 'next permanent manager' by December 1, 2024.

Sky Bet have priced Thomas Tuchel as the favourite to replace Ten Hag at Manchester United, coming in at 2/1. Gareth Southgate is next in line at 3/1, with the England boss closely followed by Graham Potter at 5/1.

Roberto De Zerbi and Zinedine Zidane have been backed to take the helm at 11/1, while Julian Naglesmann comes in at 12/1. Sky Bet have also name-checked Unai Emery in relation to the potential vacancy at 16/1.

Julen Lopetegui, who's been heavily linked with replacing David Moyes at West Ham, Kieran McKenna and Ruben Amorim have been tipped as outsiders to takeover at 20/1. Speaking to TNT Sports on Monday, Ten Hag forewarned his potential successor that there's 'many problems' to fix.

"As Man United we should perform better," said the Dutchman. "The players who were available should do better. It's a deserved defeat. The performance wasn't what we expected.

"We can't focus on just one player [Casemiro]. We have to focus on the team performance. This was not right. We have to put it right on Sunday. We have to learn from this game and improve.

"I was really grateful [to the fans]. They back us. They see also we have our problems. You have to stick together. You have to take responsibility. The fans gave us such huge and tremendous support."

When quizzed on his future at Old Trafford, Ten Hag added: "I don't think about this. I prepare the team in the best way I can. We have many problems. The only focus I have is to perform better with my team. I think only about making my team better."
