Man United to sack Erik ten Hag – sources

Erik ten Hag will be sacked as Manchester United manager at the end of the season, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed Ten Hag is likely to lose his job even if Man United beat Manchester City in the FA Cup later this month.

The Dutchman has overseen a disappointing campaign, with the Red Devils currently sitting eighth in the Premier League table heading into the final three games of the season.

Ten Hag saw his side beaten 4-0 by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on 6 May, ramping up the speculation around his future at Old Trafford.

Football Insider revealed last month Man United chiefs are doing their due diligence behind the scenes over who could be their next manager.

It now looks increasingly likely the 54-year-old will be sacked following a run of poor performances in recent weeks.

Thomas Tuchel could replace Erik ten Hag as Man United manager

There are expected to be plenty of changes at Old Trafford in the coming weeks as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to put his stamp on the club.

Reports have suggested the Man United chief is now willing to sell the majority of the first-team players this summer as he aims to overhaul the squad.

That leaves Ten Hag’s future in serious doubt, with Football Insider revealing last month outgoing Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel is the top contender to replace him.

O’Rourke admitted behind-the-scenes issues haven’t helped the Dutchman’s cause, noting how the situation with Jadon Sancho hasn’t worked in the club’s favour following his impressive form on loan at Dortmund.

It would now take an unexpected twist for Ten Hag to remain at Man United beyond this season after it’s been largely a year to forget for the club.
