Casemiro was dribbled past on eight occasions as he floundered in Manchester United's 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Michael Olise scored twice as the Eagles stunned United at Selhurst Park on Monday night, with Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell grabbing the other goals on a humiliating night for Erik ten Hag. Casemiro, as has been the case for United's past few matches, was playing out of position as a central defender because of injuries to other centre-backs.

And Palace players flew past him eight times during the game, which is a record for the Premier League this season. Casemiro's previous highest number, in terms of being dribbled past, had been five times against Aston Villa in December. But this stat is a further worry for the United man, whose form has been a major concern this season.

In total, Casemiro has been dribbled past by an opponent 52 times this season, which puts him ninth on the list of Premier League players for the campaign. He's also the 16th most dribbled past player in Europe's major five divisions in the 2023/24 season. His performance against Palace prompted pundit Jamie Carragher to tell him to "call it a day".

He said: "I think Casemiro – I am being deadly serious – should know himself tonight, as an experienced player, that he should only have another three games at the top level, the next three league games and the FA Cup final, and thinking 'I need to go the MLS or Saudi [Pro League]'."

"I am being deadly serious. His agent or the people around him need to tell him it has to stop."
