Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney faces a decision over the direction of his career with both Sky Sports and TNT Sports reportedly wanting to sign him as a pundit next season.

The 38-year-old has been out of work as a manager since an ill-fated spell in charge of Birmingham City came to an end in January. The club has since been relegated to League One on the final day of the Championship season.

Rooney has also taken charge of Derby County and Major League Soccer (MLS) side D.C United. He is said to be keen to get back into management, believing that he still has a lot to offer in the dugout.

Since being out of work, Rooney has been a guest pundit on different channels. The Sun now report that both Sky Sports and TNT Sports are looking to sign Rooney as one of their main pundits for the new Premier League season and are in a 'tug-of-war' over the England hero.

It is added that the striker is also being eyed by a pundit job for the upcoming Euro 2024 tournament. Both BBC and ITV are said to be interested in using the former England captain as a pundit for games.

The report comes after it was announced that Rooney has been signed up as a new host for the Overlap YouTube channel, which will see him work alongside former United teammate Gary Neville.

Roy Keane, Jill Scott, Jamie Carragher, and Ian Wright are the other pundits who regularly appear on the weekly show. Rooney will now be joining them, with the possibility that he will be seen as a pundit more regularly in the 2024/25 campaign.
