Jadon Sancho has given Manchester United Michael Olise transfer answer

Manchester United supporters will have looked on enviously on Monday night as Michael Olise showed exactly what he could bring to the club.

His brace against an albeit atrocious United side was impressive and explained precisely why the Reds have been linked with the winger ahead of the summer transfer window. The problem for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, and whoever is the manager of the club this summer, is that money will once again be tight.

With the Premier League continuing their no-nonsense approach towards Financial Fair Play (FFP), United need to tread lightly once more to avoid being on the wrong side of the regulations. This means the Reds must either spend frugally or sell their existing players for good money.

Considering there will be very few takers for the current United team, frugality may be the order of business in the next transfer window. Olise reportedly has a release clause of £60m and while he could kick up a fuss to try and allow the Reds to buy him cheaper, there are no guarantees that Palace would accept anything less.

With so many positions needing to be strengthened, United may need to look within to solve their problems on the wing and fortunately, they have a man in form. Unfortunately, that man is on loan at Borussia Dortmund and is persona non grata with Erik ten Hag.

Jadon Sancho showcased in the Champions League last weekend why United spent £73m on his signature back in 2021. He was direct, pacey and caused PSG no end of problems.

Ultimately, it has never worked out for him at Old Trafford like it has done at Signal Iduna Park. That is by no means solely the fault of Ten Hag either - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer couldn't garner those consistent performances out of Sancho either.

After the pair's bust-up in September, it remains to be seen whether Sancho and Ten Hag can patch things up. But if the latter does remain at Old Trafford, it is surely in his interests to work hard on unleashing the Dortmund Sancho on the Premier League.

If he can do that, it would save United plenty of money in the summer and arguably make the Olise signing less of a priority while the transfer budget is focused on the issues in the core of the squad - centre-back, central midfield and centre-forward.
