Arsenal are set to face Manchester United in a crucial game in the Premier League title race, and despite their poor form, it will not be easy.

Erik ten Hag’s side will be heading into the fixture hoping to bounce back from their dismal 4-0 defeat away at Crystal Palace, and an in-form Arsenal side are probably the last team they want to face right now.

The Gunners need to win both of their remaining matches if they are to take Manchester City all the way in the title race, and this will mean that they have to overcome their demons at Old Trafford to secure all three points.

Arsenal have a dismal record at Old Trafford, with just one win there since 2006, but Gunners legend Ian Wright is backing his old club given the respective form of both teams.

Ian Wright backs Arsenal to beat Manchester United

Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Wright explained how Arsenal’s recent performances should mean that they secure a rare victory at Old Trafford in a high-pressure match.

“As an Arsenal fan, I would like to think the way we play, the way we are defensively and through the midfield and upfront, I would like to think that we will win the game because we have to, but at the same time, it’s not fun watching Manchester United that is falling so fast,” he stated.

Man United have won just one of their last seven Premier League games, with pressure mounting on Ten Hag, who is also managing an injury crisis, with midfielder Casemiro forced to play at centre-back, and enduring a nightmare time against Palace.

Arsenal will face intense pressure in the upcoming clash, as they know they cannot afford to drop a single point.

High-flying teams under Mikel Arteta and Arsene Wenger have gone to face struggling United teams, but they could still not secure victories.

In the 2015-16 season, Arsenal were fighting Leicester City for the title, and came into a clash against an injury-stricken Man United side, who had teenager Marcus Rashford making his Premier League debut.

Arsenal went on to lose 3-2 despite being considered favourites, with Rashford scoring twice, and this derailed their title charge which just two weeks before, appeared to be on track despite beating Leicester in the final minute.

There cannot be any complacency from Arteta’s side heading into the game, but if they continue to play the way they have recently, then they will be confident of keeping a clean sheet and scoring freely.
