Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes applauded Jadon Sancho for his success after Borussia Dortmund reached the final of the Champions League.

Sancho played 67 minutes in the French capital as a Mats Hummels header in the second half helped seal a 2-0 aggregate victory over PSG. Dortmund will now face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in next month's final at Wembley Stadium.

After the match, a jubilant Sancho celebrated his temporary club's success on Instagram. He posted: "Champions League Final! Wow, wow, wow, unbelievable Borussia Dortmund!

"WEMBLEY HERE WE COME!" One of those to send the English forward a congratulatory message was Fernandes who replied with three clapping emojis.

In February 2023, Fernandes expressed how much he admired Sancho for coming back into the first team fold after experiencing mental health issues that winter. He said: "He's [Sancho] been really good. As I said to him, it's great to have him back because we know he is a massive solution for us, as a starter, as someone to come and have great qualities to help the team.

"We all know the capacity that he [Sancho] has. He hasn't expressed it at his best yet, he's been at some moments really good."

Sancho's return was curtailed in September after a public fallout with manager Erik ten Hag. When quizzed by reporters as to why the winger was not in the squad that lost to Arsenal, the United boss claimed it was due to his training ground performances.

The 24-year-old took issue with this and claimed he had been made a 'scapegoat' by his manager. While this post was deleted, Sancho refused to apologise and was banished from first-team training.

United's winger has since made 18 appearances for Dortmund on loan scoring three goals and grabbing two assists in the process.
